The Ant and the Spider

by Dahni

Said the spider to the ant:

“You keep so busy for every of three seasons
and when winter blows what do you do and where do you go?”

Said the ant to the spider:

“We must stay busy and work like no tomorrow
for when tomorrow comes with winter
we rest with kin and friend
warm beneath our hill we feast together in joy.”

Said the spider to the ant:

“I’ve no friends or kin like you do
none to stop and speak with me
none which truly care for me
and I am alone and cold in winter.”

Said the ant to the spider:

“You keep on getting what you’re getting
when you keep on giving what you’re giving.”
