The Old Man and the Old Woman in the shoes

by Dahni

Piled high to the ceiling and no more room in the room
would be all the shoes wore out
from years of coming and going
and oh, the tales they could tell
if their tongues were loosed
but instead of shoes
there sits an old man; an old woman
shoes wore out upon their feet
but
their cheeks glow
their faces shine
and their smiles loose the tongues
for happy memories
never wear out!
