Wake Up

by Dahni

Good morning!

This is your wake up call!

Trumpet blasts and thunderous waves shake and shock
the curled up ball of body, blanket and quilt.

Ears quiver - hands shiver crawling out of this cocoon
to strike dead this menacing sound,
but there is no box of music; no buzzing clock.

Eyes are closed, but still feel this noise upon them.
Oh, to bury the head and exposed limbs deeper in -
towards the center of quiet repose.
Oh, to forget this rude invasion and drift back to sleep.

The sounds are the colors of bright and cheerful morning sun,
Who thinks:  “I am up and why not you?”

Oh, if I could but pause her like the snooze alarm on my clock.
Oh, if she could but understand, that this is my day off -
and both of us - Go back to sleep!
