A bird's-eye view of our first glimpse of Japan

   Only a 1 1/2 mile long runway, this island is totally man-made from recycled materials. The body of water seen allows the airport and tram and the entire island to be totally self-sufficient, producing both power and fresh water (filtered), for drinking and all other uses. We landed on a postage stamp, then took an automatic electric tram to another small island before entering Osaka.
