City of the Clouds
by Dahni, bard of Clouds
Though castles of dreams be built upon
seeming sands
rising mountains
held aloft of clouds...
You known or nameless - sightless face
Though seem they 'reachless
within the space of dark
be only lit of storms brief 'sparkings
to even show
that this dreamscape is...
Though all loss of hope
fill your stomach empty of strength
and you grip the forged steel of a coward's heart...
Though hell itself curse you
to cast down ‘feebled attempts
and sparks taunt with terror
and show the 'touchless glimpse
and rip the wings of your mounted Pegasus
and the moat fills of blackened hole
and the drawbridge closes
of entrance to this glimmering
City of the Clouds...
I shall fight you
even you
that your dreams remain not
nor die in your heart
and cast you down into this dark
and there you walk the sparks into...
