I love to take pictures of many different kinds of subject matter. Landscapes, clouds, water and macro-photography (close ups of flowers and insects for example), are among my favorites. But when it comes to the human face, the challenges become much more difficult because our physical eyes are much more critical. Even though I have painted in oils and acrylics on canvas, I have never been comfortable with my proficiency in capturing the varied details of the human anatomy. Over the years I have developed my own style in combining my eyes understanding of human anatomy and what measure of artistic ability I have, in the form of abstract design. But digital photography has enabled me to capture the human face realistically or to later add artistic embellishments. As film is rapidly being replaced with digital photography, the human face is still very complex. The almost infinite details and tones as seen above are only possible with cameras capable of shooting with a higher number of pixels (mega pixels). The more detail needing to be captured requires a higher number of pixels per square inch. Otherwise, we would not see such things as the subject's clearly defined facial hair and color tones in his face and ears, the lines in his lips etc. In essence, the photograph should not merely resemble the subject, it should reflect the subject!
